Cincinnati commit Spencer Williams is a hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end that has been drawing interest from other schools around the South since he gave his verbal to Cincinnati. The Jacksonville, Florida recruit has plans to visit these schools this summer.
One of the schools to recently offer Williams is Georgia Tech. "It became official when my transcripts arrived and cleared." Williams had a conditional offer from Coach Lamar Owens prior to his transcripts being cleared. Even before his offer became official he had been in considerable contact with Georgia Tech, "My mom as well as myself has been talking with Georgia Tech and Coach Owens a lot."
The offer to Williams by Tech will be followed by a visit to Atlanta later this month. "Some of my First Coast teammates and I are going on visits to schools we want to check out and Georgia Tech is one for them for me."
Spencer's interest in Georgia Tech is helped by knowing Stepheny Durham and his commitment to Georgia Tech. "I don't know Step personally but I do know who he is and that is committed to Georgia Tech and is very high on them."
Williams is looking to check out the schools that are showing him interest. "I will then decide if I want to stay with Cincinnati or switch to another school. Right now I am committed to Cincinnati but I am interested in Georgia Tech and a couple of other teams." Following his visit to Tech, Spencer hopes to have the chance to visit North Carolina State before his senior years starts.
The main factor that could lead to a switch for Spencer is his relationship with the defensive line coach. "How good is he, is he really easy to get along with, and finally how well does he coach up his players." Williams will also be looking to see how well each team does this season.
Spencer will also be looking to take advantage of his five official visits. "I think it is in my best interest to take my officials."
