6-foot-4, 245 pound rising senior Colt Pettit made his way to Blacksburg to visit Virginia Tech Tuesday night. It didn't take long after that for the offensive guard to know that's where he belongs.
"I've committed to Virginia Tech," said Pettit Wednesday evening. "It really came down to the coaches and the school in general. When I was there for a visit I saw that it was second to none. There were a lot of things that stand out to me. I love everything about it. It is a great school with great people."
While on campus, Pettit was able to see a little bit of everything Virginia Tech has to offer.
"We met with the academic advisor and visited around campus. We also met with the Engineering department and talked with the coaches. It was a well-rounded visit."
After his visit, Pettit took a visit another school Wednesday, but knew in his heart that he was meant to be a Hokie.
"We visited Marshall earlier today and I still felt like VT was the right place for me. I don't think any school could top them. So, I called them and committed. The coaches were jacked up about it and that made me feel good."
As for the rest of his recruitment, the senior says this is it for him.
"I'm done with all of the other recruiting stuff, and it feels good. It feels pretty good knowing I'll be a Hokie. I'm pretty excited about it. My phone hasn't stopped going off for the past hour."
So, what can Hokie fans expect from Pettit?
"I'll give it my all. I'm going to play tough and physical and will represent Hokie nation well."
Pettit also held offers from Air Force, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Harvard, Illinois, Indiana, Kent State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Ohio, Purdue, Toledo, Western Michigan and Yale.
