Ohio 2015 DB Gives Latest on Spartans

Having camped at Michigan State this summer allowed Tyree Kinnel to get a close-up look at the Spartans football program. What is the latest between Kinnel and the Spartans? We caught up with the 2015 defensive back following a recent 7-on-7 event.

While June was a month of hitting several camps for Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne defensive back Tyree Kinnel, July means it's time to get started on his junior high school season.

Kinnel and his teammates recently took part in their first 7-on-7 of the summer coming away happy with the results.

"It was good to get some work in and I felt I did pretty well," said Kinnel. "Our defense didn't really give up too many big plays which is a good thing. It's only like our second day out, but I feel we're improving every day."

Following his camp performance in mid-June, Kinnel was hopeful of adding the Spartans to his offer list. Where do things stand at the present time?

"Recruiting is going really well," explained Kinnel. "Michigan State really likes me and I did pretty well at their camp. They want to follow me in the fall and have told me I'm high on their 2015 board.

"My trip up there was great and I had a ball while I was there. Coach (Harlon) Barnett is great and we talk almost once a week. It was a great trip and Michigan State has a lot to offer me and the experience was also great. I was really in love with Michigan State."

With early offers from Kentucky and Arkansas, Kinnel knows there is a good chance he could make a college decision early. When would he like to end the process?

"It will just depend on where I feel I want to go," he said. "I would like to make my decision before my senior season. However, it could take longer and that is not a problem."
