Texas 7v7: Elijah Brooks

FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com has the update on Rockdale running back Elijah Brooks from Texas at the Texas State 7-on-7 tournament in Leander. Last season he was used in a variety of ways, but it seems like his home is in the backfield, a position to which he is being recruited. Where do things stand with him?

All he has is one shot left.

And know that Rockdale (TX) running back Elijah Brooks looks to make the most of it heading into his senior year with momentum and confidence that his first offer will come to him sometime during the season.

"I'm trying to get better and do what it takes to get a scholarship. They are looking at for running back, mainly for my low center of gravity and my great vision, which I think is my best attribute," Brooks said.

Now the 5-foot-9, 200-pound back will want to improve on his previous numbers of 1,444 yards and 15 touchdowns. He is looking for even bigger numbers going forward.

"I'm looking to improve that this season and get 1,700 or 2,000 yards. We (Rockdale team) worked out real good in the off season. Then I work out with my dad and work on my knee lifting and cuts," Brooks said.

So far, though no offers have been extended as previously mention, Brooks said that there has been some communication between him and Oklahoma State, Texas Tech. and TCU. He said that those coaches asked him to visit their respective campuses.

Brooks has not yet made any visits, but there could be one happening before the start of the season.

"No one has offered me, but the schools talking to me. Texas State came down in the spring and talked with my coach about me," Brooks said. "I have his card and look to call him. I'm looking to take a visit there because it is sort of close."
