Texas 7v7: Charles West

FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com has the update on Coppell running back Charles West from Texas at the Texas State 7-on-7 tournament in Leander. The talented junior is on the list for several college programs across the country. Is he favoring any now? Check it out right here.

After a solid showing a sophomore, Coppell (TX) running back Charles West is already starting to see some movement in his recruitment. So far no offers have been extended, but it's only a matter of time before the first one comes in.

"I haven't been offered yet, but I've talked to a few programs so far. I think August 1, maybe UCLA may offer because I have been talking with them a lot," West said. "They say they are very interested. California, Clemson, Texas Tech, Arkansas (going to camp on July 19) is some of the other schools recruiting me."

The 5-foot-10, 182-pound back said that things are going "pretty good" right now as it pertains to his recruitment. Last year in a reserved capacity he gained 635 yards and seven touchdowns.

He has a couple of stops planned for this upcoming fall, but does want to get another camp visit in before the start of his junior season.

"I definitely want to get out to UCLA and Cal, I love the Cal area. And LSU too," West said. "My cousin, Mo Claiborne, just came out of LSU and I have talked with coach (Les) Miles a couple of times. He (Miles) told me to come out to a game this year. And I will.

"You could say that those are my Top 3 schools right now."

West said that coaches like his speed and his ability to get vertical.
