Wood Ends Recruitment

Three-star TE Trevor Wood makes commitment while on unofficial visit

About two weeks, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral TE Trevor Wood narrowed his list of suitors to Arizona, Oregon and UCLA. This week, Alabama offered and Wood said that the Crimson Tide would add a fourth school to his finalists. We also said that he would be committing before his senior season started. With camp at Chaparral set to start next week, Wood was true to his word and made his verbal commitment today.

"I just committed to Arizona," Wood said. "I'm real excited about my decision and happy to be a Wildcat. I love the new facilities and the coaching staff. My brother is there and it's going to be great to play with him My dad also played there so it's going to be great to continue the family legacy as a Wildcat."

Wood committed to the University of Arizona today while on an unofficial visit to Tucson at a recruiting event designed for student-athletes to see the Wildcats' new facilities.

Wood (6-6 240) picked the Cats over offers from San Diego State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Hawaii, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Boise State, Utah, Washington and Arizona State.

Wood, who played mainly DE as a sophomore at Chaparral is also being recruited as a TE. Wood missed the 2012 season with a torn labrum in his shoulder.

See Wood's sophomore highlights below:

Wildcat Ties: Trevor's father played football at UofA and his brother, Carter, plays there currently. Charlie Ragle was Wood's high school coach at Chaparral and will be his position coach in Tucson.

Star Status: Wood has the physical status and athletic ability of a four-star prospect but is currently ranked a three-star TE by Scout.com. He has impressed our West Coast staff at several 7on7 events this off-season and is on the verge of receiving the fourth star. After missing his junior year due to injury, if he puts together quality early senior footage, look for his stock to rise dramatically.
