"Mississippi State offered me back during the spring and we have been trying to get down here for a visit for a long time," said Chaffin. "We finally got the chance to come down here and we really had a good time."
Chaffin reports that he was able to get the guided tour of the Mississippi State campus and see all of the Bulldog football facilities.
"We got to see the new football facility that they just built (Leon Seal Jr. complex)," said Chaffin. "It was really nice.
"I got to see the weight room and all of the facilities and I was impressed.
"We got to take a tour of the campus and everything was really nice."
In addition to taking in the sites of the Starkville campus, Chaffin had the chance to get some face to face time with the coaches who will be responsible for recruiting him.
"I got to spend a lot of time with the O line coach, Coach (John) Hevesy," explained Chaffin. "I really like him a lot. You can tell he's a good coach.
"We spent pretty much the whole time with Coach (David) Turner. He is the coach that recruits my area and I like him a whole lot. He's a great guy.
"I got to meet with Coach (Dan) Mullen and shake his hand.
"I was real impressed that when I got there everybody knew who I was and where I was from.
"I really felt welcomed there."
While the Bulldogs have made a strong first impression, Chaffin reports the process is just beginning for him.
"I really like Mississippi State, but I am still wide open," said Chaffin. "I am going to keep my options open and see how things go.
"I have the offers from UNC-Charlotte and Mississippi State and I am waiting to see what my other options may be."
