Cloy felt timing was right

Darrell Cloy made his decision to become a Wildcat this past weekend. Read on to see why, how he feels he fits in, and more.

It was hardly a surprise that La Habra (Calif.) athlete Darrell Cloy committed to play at Arizona, but he wanted to wait and publicly pledge on the biggest recruiting weekend of the year.

"The timing was just right," Cloy said. "I had known for awhile that I was going to go to Arizona, but I wanted to wait for the grand opening because it was a big deal."

Cloy feels he is joining a program that is headed in the right direction.

"Arizona is really on the rise," Cloy said. "When you look at what they did last season and you see what the offense does, it's just a really good place to be. I love the coaches and their offensive strategies.

"Everything is about matchups and they like the fact that I'm big and I can move. They've told me I could be lined up anywhere and that is what I was looking for."

The three-star tight end went into the visit already sold on Arizona, but the visit still exceeded his expectations.

"They talked this weekend up for awhile and the trip was great," Cloy said. "You could tell the coaches put a lot of time into getting this done.

"The campus is also really nice. It was a place that I could easily see myself at for the next four or five years. I'm completely comfortable with everything."

Cloy is now ready to focus on his senior season.

"I'm happy to have the decision out of the way," Cloy said. "I've known that I wanted to go there, but its nice now to have it official. Now I can focus completely on having a good senior season."
