Locke Talking to Many

FOX Sports NEXT caught up with Central defensive back James Locke from Beaumont, Texas. He has made a few rounds, gotten feedback and awaits more offers.

Last month it was reported by FOX Sports NEXT that Beaumont (TX) Central defensive back James Locke had gotten his first offer from SMU. And while that lone offer still remains, there has been much more activity going on since that last update.

"Baylor, Texas, Washington, TCU, Texas A&M, Boise State and Oklahoma (plus many more). These are the schools that I talk to weekly," Locke said.

Since then the 5-foot-11, 195-pound Locke has heard from a new crop of schools including Arkansas, Notre Dame and Houston. So far, he has traveled to a few cities in the Lone Star State like Austin, Waco, College Station and Fort Worth for unofficial visits and camps. Mainly for the latter.

And with that he has gotten some good feedback.

"The coaches are waiting to see me for the first couple of games this season. They also want to see if I improved my skills after what I did that day at camp," Locke said. "I went to Texas on a camp visit and did some one-on-one drills for (assistant) coach (Duane) Akina. He gave me some great feedback."

Last season as a sophomore, Locke recorded 82 tackles and an interception.
