Cards land North Carolina linebacker

On the day the fall football camp begins, University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong has added another piece for the future. Matthews (N.C.) Butler linebacker Isaac Stewart has committed to the Cardinals.

University of Louisville head coach Charlie Strong has a new addition to the commitment list on the day the current team reports to camp.

Matthews (N.C.) Butler linebacker Isaac Stewart, a three-star prospect who camped at U of L in June, gave the Cardinals a commitment

As a junior, Stewart finished with 115 tackles and six sacks, helping Butler win its third NCHSAA 4AA title in four years.

Stewart told Cardinal Authority just after his visit to camp that he "really liked" the Cardinals and they had moved way up his list.

"I saw the dorm rooms and those were really nice," he said. "My entire family was with me. I had my mom and dad, my cousin, my little sister and nephew. Everything was really nice."

Kent State, Kentucky, Marshall, Mississippi State, North Carolina, NC State and Purdue were among the offers Stewart has collected. He said his final three were U of L, Purdue and UNC.

Stewart is commitment No. 23 for the Class of 2014 and the 20th three-star prospect on board with Strong and company.

Cardinal Authority will update this story.
