Bellaire (Tex.) linebacker Brelynd Goods committed to Texas State coaches on Monday night, giving the Bobcats their fifteenth commit for the 2014 class.

"I like everything [about the program]. As far as academics, it's a great school. I haven't visited yet, but I've spoken with [defensive coordinator] Coach [Craig] Naivar and [receivers coach] Jason Johnson. They have both been completely honest about everything, both my academic and athletic situations," said Goods.

The 6-foot-3, 206-pounder, who chose the Bobcats over offers from New Mexico and Old Dominion, credits his relationship with the coaches as a huge part of his decision.

"We really talk about football. [Johnson] didn't feed me any ideas and has been honest, talking strict football with me. You don't find that a lot nowadays; they'll talk about their campus, what the school has to offer. But Coach Johnson was aggressive in a manner that I liked," he said.

Goods had also been receiving interest from Utah, UTSA, UTEP, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, and says that his primary focus right now is finishing up the school year academically.

"I've been in summer school trying to catch up on credits for some of the classes I didn't do as well in during my freshman and sophomore year. I'm just trying to make up for lost time. I'm working really hard," he said.

While he's putting time into the classroom, Goods does continue to work on his on-field performance.

"My quickness, agility, and longevity are what makes me stand out as a player. I can be quick and strong and I can last all game without getting tired or feeling beat up. I could play all day; I'm not going to sit there and complain.

"I also have a good mental understanding of the game; I can break a team down. I think there is a lot that stands out about me as a player," he said.
