Poona Ford commits to Louisville

Defensive tackle Poona Ford of Hilton Head committed to Louisville on Tuesday evening. The four-star prospect is the 24th member of the 2014 recruiting class.

The University of Louisville added its first defensive tackle to the 2014 recruiting class.

Poona Ford of Hilton Head (S.C.) Island narrowed his list to six schools last week, with Louisville, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Carolina, and Tennessee making the final cut. with the Cardinals able to secure his commitment. On Tuesday evening, he announced for the Cardinals.

The 6-foot, 288-pound lineman, who collected more than 20 scholarship offers before choosing Louisville, becomes the 24th member of the 2014 recruiting class that ranks among the top 20 in the country. He is third commitment from South Carolina, joining Greenville safety Zykiesis Cannon and wide receiver T.J. Foster of Union.

Ford, who is rated among the top 25 defensive tackle prospects in the nation by Scout.com, made an unofficial visit to Louisville in mid-June and left impressed.

As a junior, Ford had over 150 tackles, including 44 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks during the season.
