Marques Gayot on Goals & More

Marques Gayot is one of 25 verbal commitments for head coach Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals. The Lake Worth (Fla.) Park Vista standout talked about his goals, football team and how fortunate he feels.

Marques Gayot, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete from the sunshine state is currently ranked as a three star prospect by scout.com.

"I'm very blessed I should say because now a days it hard to get recruited especially in the 2014 class there's so many athletes to compete with," Marques Gayot said. "It's just a blessing to have the talent that I have."

Gayot has been committed to Louisville for nearly four months and took time to reflect on the recruiting process.

"I would say the best part of being recruited is the mail sent to you. Once you get that first letter then more and more start to come in but at the same time you got to stay humble. The worst part would be the coach not able to text or call you instead they would use Facebook which some people might not have. It would be an easier process if the coaches were able to shoot a text every now and then."

What will it take for Lake Vista to be successful this season?

"Three things are a must for our team, communication throughout the team which means communicate with your defense. Call the routes out as you seen them. It helps our defensive backs out a lot. Call run and pass once the ball is snap, little things like that are going to be the key factor in our season. Another would be to win our districts. Usually kids will want to say let's go to states ,well our goal as of now is districts."
