Achelus Ready to Break Out

FOX Sports NEXT has a quick update Morton Ranch running back E.J. Achelus from Katy, Texas. After a great season last year was cut short for him, Achelus is back and ready to lead his team past 10 games.

After playing a total of five games last season, Katy (TX) Morton Ranch running back E.J. Achelus is itching to get back out on the gridiron. Sure he averaged over 10 yards a carry and over 200 yards per game, but in the end his team did not see the success that he would have liked.

Now he is ready to get that taken care of.

"Off season was good for me. Last season I only played five games because I had a little hamstring injury," Achelus said. "Now I am 100 percent and ready to play all 10 games, plus the playoffs."

And for the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Achelus it is not enough to just get past 10 games, but looking to extend past one postseason game. While he will be looking to match, or even exceed the production he did as a junior, he will also be looking to attract more college recruiters to come check him out in West Houston.

He stated that coaches from Alabama, Oklahoma and LSU have shown some interest at one point during the process, but for now Grambling State and Florida Gulf Coast CC have offered.

In the meantime, Achelus looks to make it happen in 2013. And now he has raised the stakes,

"I'm trying to go for 3,000 yards this season. My offensive line has been in the work so I think it can happen," Achelus said.

Ahmard Vital is responsible for Midlands Recruiting, mainly covering prospects in the state of Texas. He joined in 2005 and is the author of the newly released book, Awaken the Baller Within.
