Now, he's starting to do what he can to draw more interest from them.
Taking a visit to the Southern Miss campus, Spivey said he left the school very impressed with the new staff and the direction of the program.
"I just had to go watch the team play and I took in the scrimmage last Saturday," the talented 2015 athlete told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"The guys had a lot of energy. You could tell they really wanted it this year. The coaches seemed excellent and I was just impressed seeing their energy. This staff is going to turn things around.
"I didn't have a chance to talk with any of the coaches, but I just wanted to see what was going on. I had a good camp there and they started talking to me. They said they will come see me play during the season."
Spivey currently holds an offer from Mississippi State.
"I'm looking for a school where I am wanted and can jump right in and play," he said. "I have to have a good relationship with the coaches as well."
Spivey is being recruited as an athlete, but said he'll be playing and focusing on the wide receiver position this season.
"I'll be playing WR this season for my high school," he said. "We have a very young team but I feel like we can be much improved this year. I'm trying to get the young guys inspired and lead them. Our first game is Friday and I'm ready to go."
We'll continue to track Spivey and other prospects throughout the state. Stay tuned to GoldenEaglePride.com.
