Midlands Commitment: Elijah Rodriguez

FOX Sports NEXT has a quick breakdown on the newest recruit to join the Colorado football team, Cy Creek offensive lineman Elijah Rodriguez from Houston, Texas. He should be a nice addition to the Buffs program. Why you ask? Check out this premium feature and find out.

Chosen over Arizona State, UCF, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico State

Run Down: Throughout the process it seemed as though Colorado was always at the top, or at least somewhere near. According to Cy Creek coach Greg McCaig, the Buff coaches have done well in keeping in touch with Rodriguez. On top of that, Colorado was one of the early offers to come to the Cy Creek tackle. Sure other teams were in the running, but the strongest relationship by far was right there in Boulder, CO.

What this means for Colorado: Hauling in one more Texan never hurts for sure. But as a player, Rodriguez brings a great deal of versatility, as McCaig said that any positions on the offensive line are possible. Though guard is the likely position, Rodriguez's lateral movement makes him one who could play at either of the tackle positions. On top of all of this, Rodriguez in several interviews referenced his Christian faith as a key factor in him choosing a college. Colorado provided him with that connection, which likely helped bring this eventual commitment to fruition.

In the Words of Rodriguez (As told to BuffPlayBook.com): "I want to get the decision behind me. It's something that has been weighing on my heart. I knew when I left Colorado that they were the ones to beat for my services."
