Week Zero: TCU Commits in Action

A look at where and when the ten TCU commitments will be kicking off the 2013 season this weekend.

Ty Barrett, OT, Dallas (TX) Skyline
vs. The Woodlands (TX)
Sat., Aug. 31
6:00 p.m.

Barrett and the Skyline Raiders again open season with The Woodlands Saturday night in Georgetown, %%MATCH_9%% at the neutral site of Georgetown ISD Athletic Complex. Last year's season-opening meeting ended in a 42-28 Skyline win. Barrett will not only be the anchor of the offensive line this year but a large vocal leader as the Raiders look to return to the playoffs for the 19th straight year dating back to 1994.

Foster Sawyer, QB, Fort Worth (TX) All Saints
@ Brownwood (TX)
Fri., Aug. 30
7:30 p.m.

Sawyer and the Saints again open season with Brownwood, this time meeting them at their place after running the Lions, 31-7, in last year's opener. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Sawyer, who has started for All Saints since his sophomore season, threw for 2,815 yards and 31 touchdowns with only eight interceptions last season in leading his Saints to back-to-back Southwest Preparatory Conference titles and a perfect 22-0 record in two seasons, earning all-state honors. He wants that third ring and the quest for it begins Friday.

Zaycoven Henderson, DT, Longview (TX)
@ Coppell (TX)
Fri., Aug. 30
7:30 p.m.

Henderson and the Longview Lobos will open season in the 60 million-dollar Allen Eagle Stadium, squaring off with touted defensive end Solomon Thomas and Coppell, who will be home team and who finished at No. 4 in Texas Class 5A last season. Coppell got their run started with a 41-8 win over Longview in last year's opener, but Henderson says this meeting will be different. "We're a completely different team this year. We have guys with more experience and with experience comes confidence. All I know is Allen's going to be rockin' Friday night."

Nick Orr, CB, DeSoto (TX)
vs. Arlington (TX) Martin Fri., Aug. 30 7:30 p.m.

There is seldom a year when DeSoto isn't busting at the seams with FBS talent, and this year is no different. When it takes the field in DeSoto on Aug. 30 against Arlington Martin it will do so with more talent than most high schools can dream of. Leading the defensive unit will be Nick Orr and Texas DT commit Bryce English. Chris Lacy, a recent verbal to Oklahoma State, will serve as a large target to returning starting quarterback Dez White. As will 2016 athlete Tristen Wallace, an early TCU target and a name to keep an eye on this season.
