Scouting Loyola vs East English Village Prep

Loyola defeated East English Village Prep 20-12 to start the Detroit Prep Kickoff Classic. Both teams have talent that colleges need to be aware of. Our notes here.

Offensive lineman Ka'John Armstrong is the senior leader and had a solid performance. He has gotten in better shape and is moving better. He played well on defense as well, making a couple key tackles. He has an Eastern Michigan offer.

Defensive back Keith Graves affected the game as a return man and both sides of the ball. He's a fine athlete who should find a home to play on Saturdays. Junior safety Paul Engram is active and good in run support. He finds the football and is a strong kid. Junior Darryl Clemons played on the edge. At 6'1, 195-pounds, his future is likely as an outside backer and is doing more of that this year.

Sophomore receiver Armani Posey has a chance to be special. He has solid size (6'2, 180), caught the ball well and showed strength and toughness after the catch.

Also with a chance to be special is freshman lineman Emani Mason. He's gotten in better shape since we first met him in the Winter. He's gotten taller too. He's 6'3+ and around 255 right now. He's very light on his feet and already has good technique in pass pro. He could be a guard or defensive tackle in college. He plays tackle now but would have to grow more to play there in college.

Junior defensive end Kamahl March is a great pass rusher. He's athletic and quick. He's thin though and we see him as more of a hybrid rush linebacker than a true defensive end.

Junior quarterback Anton Curtis is nice size and is a good athlete. He throws a nice ball, but needs to continue developing his consistency and decision making.

Sophomore running back Nathaniel Boulware is not a big guy, but is quick and elusive. Senior receiver Rico Lewis has good size and we see him as a GLIAC type guy. Sophomore receiver Lindrell Mitchell made some nice plays for a young guy as did sophomore linebacker J'Shon Moore.
