Mount Carmel (Ill.) quarterback Matt Domer helped his team to a big season opening victory, 40-0 over St. Patricks.
"It was great the way we opened, a shut out victory, big time players stepped up today," Domer said. "Christian Searles had a great game. He told me before the game that he was a little nervous, he was ready to go but he showed it out on the field."
He added, "He is definitely going to be a big player in the offense and defense this year."
And even though Domer is proud to call himself a member of the Illinois class of 2014, he's completely focused on the season before him, and trying to defend the Caravan's 8A state title.
"Right now, you heard Nate Oquendo say it as well. It is great to have that in my pocket that I am committed to Illinois but I am not really worried about that recruiting right now," Domer said. "I am worried about my team. So we can go to the next level with the team."
And as for Illinois fans that are following Domer along through the process?
"I am going to bring them Mount Carmel football this season, that is what I am going to bring them every day," Domer said.
