Two Weeks, Two Big Visits

We are two weeks into college football season and Scout 300 offensive tackle David Sharpe has visited two different college campuses. He talks Clemson, Georgia, and more here...

David Sharpe has gone about his recruitment very quietly over the past six months. He is a man of few words, but he is taking many in.

The 6-foot-7, 280 pound offensive tackle is being pursued by national programs and two of them had him on their campus the last two weeks.

On Saturday, Sharpe was back in Athens visiting Georgia and he liked what he saw.

"It was crazy out there at Georgia," Sharpe said. "The crowd was great, the team played well, and I really enjoyed it. Coach [Mark] Richt showed me a lot of love, I talked with most of the coaches, and I had a real good time. I am really thinking about taking an official visit to Georgia."

A week earlier, the four-star took a trip into South Carolina to see Clemson host the Bulldogs.

The Tigers won that national game and like he was in Athens, Sharpe was impressed.

"It was really a great atmosphere at Clemson. I had a lot of fun there I liked the team coming down the hill, their offense was good, and it was a crazy atmosphere. I didn't get a chance to talk to Dabo Swinney, but I did talk to a couple of the other coaches. I am still looking into Clemson and I have interest in them."

After seeing two big games with three highly ranked teams competing, who will he see next?

"I think I am staying home next weekend, but I still will visit Alabama for sure and I would like to see North Carolina and USC. I do not have any visits scheduled yet though."

The Sunshine State star has visited the University of Florida more than any other school and he knows The Swamp well. Some have thought from the get-go that the Gators held the lead for Sharpe, so what does he say about that?

"I still talk to Florida and I have a lot of interest, but I am still open," Sharpe said. "I am not sure about my top schools yet. I have some schools I like, but I need to see more schools before I can honestly make a list. I just need a little more time."

The sooner Sharpe sees the schools he needs to see, the sooner he could have a decision.

"I want to commit as soon as I am ready. I talk to coaches on the phone as much as I can and I am trying to see who I connect with and where I feel the most comfortable.

"I want to play early too, but being comfortable is very important. I will probably take a few more visits, then make a decision as soon as I can."

Sharpe is the No. 13 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 16 prospect in Florida.
