Smallwood decommits from USC

A week after saying he was a soft verbal to USC, four-star defensive tackle Tashon Smallwood has decided to make it official and decommit from the Trojans.

Fresno (Calif.) Central four-star defensive tackle Tashon Smallwood is no longer a soft verbal commitment to USC. He's not any kind of committed to the Trojans.

Smallwood confirmed via text message late Saturday night he has decommitted from USC.

Smallwood, who is 6-foot-1 and 285 pounds, is ranked No. 18 at defensive tackle for the Class of 2014 and said last week he feels he made his decision too early.

Smallwood said USC, Oklahoma, California, Arizona State and UCLA are his top five schools. The plan remains to take all five official visits before making a decision.
