Onwenu Returns to Ann Arbor

Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech sophomore defensive tackle Michael Onwenu talks about last Saturday's Michigan visit and where else he may head to this Fall.

Detroit Cass Tech's massive 6-foot-2, 330-pound defensive tackle Michael Onwenu had been to Michigan before, but Saturday's experience at "Under the Lights II" was something he found to be much different than the spring game he attended in April.

"I think it was great," he said. "It was a great game. I was surprised there were that many people there. Overall, the game was a great game. Michigan put up a great fight and won the game."

Cass Tech has been kind to the Wolverines, and Onwenu, who stepped in immediately for the Technicians as a freshman last year, is expected to be one of the school's next top recruits.

On Saturday, he got to see alums like Delonte Hollowell, Thomas Gordon and others out on the field.

"It showed me if I work as hard as them I could be where they are."

Onwenu says he came late, and was not able to speak to the Michigan coaches much. He is also hearing from Michigan State, who he has visited, Ohio State, Tennessee, Alabama and Notre Dame. He hopes to see several more college games this fall.

"I'm going to be going to more Michigan and Michigan State games and I might be going to the Tennessee-Oregon game, but I'm not sure yet."
