Scout 300 WR reports new offer

Patterson (LA) 2015 four-star WR Daylon Charlot, a member of the Scout 300, talks about his recruitment and his early sophomore season inside. Charlot talks about a Notre Dame coach who he's developed a bond with - and much more inside...

Daylon Charlot hasn't officially talked scholarship offer with the Notre Dame staff, but he's hopeful that an offer is on the table.

"I was researching online and saw that Notre Dame was listed as one of my offers," the country's 32nd-ranked junior wide receiver said.

"I've gotten to build a relationship with Coach Kerry Cooks from Notre Dame. He talks to me about how my family is doing and asks about my grades. Notre Dame is a very good team. I'm going to see how it is from here on out with them, but I'd definitely be interested in going there regardless of the distance."

Florida State and Louisville are sending a sizable chunk of mail to the 6-0, 180-pounder, who caught 12 passes for 110 yards and two TDs in week one of his junior campaign.

"I'm supposed to call Coach (Randy) Sanders from Florida State," he said. "I'm going to call him probably today."

Charlot and his teammates at 3A Patterson - always a formidable foe - find themselves at 0-2 after losses to large Class 5A programs Brother Martin and East Ascension.

"They were triple-teaming me against East Ascension," he said following a 66-32 marathon loss to the Spartans and three-star LSU RB commit Sione Palelei, who Charlot freely praised.

This week Charlot and the Lumberjacks host 2A Catholic-New Iberia, which features 2015 QB Jason Pellerin and 2014 Cajuns WR commit Gabe Fuselier, who rushed for 195 yards on 7 carries last week.

"If our defense does a good job," he said, "then I feel our offense will put up big numbers."

Charlot teams up with another of the state's elite receivers in sophomore Mykel Jones, who has seven offers.

"I feel like I'm coming out of my routes better and have gotten faster since last year," he said. "I improved my speed by running with chutes.

"We're going to overcome these losses and move on to the next game."

Charlot also lists offers from Mississippi State, Arizona State and Louisiana Tech.
