First Offer for Moon

Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side senior linebacker D'Marcus Moon talks about his Eastern Michigan offer and Indiana visit.

D'Marcus Moon was rewarded for his strong early season play with his first scholarship offer on Monday as the Eastern Michigan Eagles came to his school with the good news.

"It felt great," he said. "I've spent a long time wishing, and I've put a lot of work and time in and to see my dream come true and receive a Division-1 scholarship is exciting. I'm feeling great and I give all respect to God."

Although Moon's 6-foot-1, 225-pound frame may make him look like a life-long linebacker, he actually had not played the position until this year. Because of that, schools let him know what they needed to see and EMU was one of those schools.

"[Area recruiter and running backs coach Mike Hart] and his staff have shown a lot of love. They have been following me since day one. They have been honest. I appreciated them honestly telling me what I had to work on. I look forward to getting to know them even more."

Asked when he will get up to Ypsilanti, Moon said, "I'm going to visit for the Ohio game October 19th, and they want me to take my official some time in December."

On Saturday, Moon, who had visited Purdue the week before, went down to Bloomington and saw the Indiana Hoosiers.

"That was amazing, just the environment on game day. It was live and electric. This is their off-week, and they're recruiting, so hopefully I'll get a visit from them as well."
