Jacksonville (FL) Raines cornerback Lamont Simmons was at Georgia Tech this past weekend for their comeback victory over North Carolina. It was an unofficial visit for Simmons.
Simmons is one of the top targets in the secondary for the Yellow Jackets and came away excited about the program.
"It was a pretty good visit," said Simmons. "They have the greatest fans. I loved the atmosphere. It was just a great visit and one of the better ones I've been on."
There was a few parts of the trip that excited Simmons and left a lasting impression on him.
"I loved seeing the football team walk to the stadium and seeing the band play," he told Scout. "I got to shake hands with a lot of the players and meet them after the game. They were in yellow suits, which is cool. A lot of them complimented me on my fashion too because I showed up with some flare with my palm tree shirt on. I got to speak with Coach (Paul) Johnson right before the game so that was pretty cool and made me feel special."
Simmons commented on Georgia Tech's victory.
"It was a very good comeback against North Carolina," he stated. "That's not a bad team but Georgia Tech put together a strong second half when many people didn't think they had it in them. I think Georgia Tech should be ranked very, very high. They can make his season special."
Simmons has changed up his timeline for a college decision.
I plan on committing sometime soon," he admitted. I'm probably going to commit to a school on my birthday, October 7th. I won't be making any visits before then."
"Georgia Tech is my leader right now," he added. "Tennessee, Georgia, Iowa State, Kentucky, and Auburn are up there at the top too."
