Four-star receiver Juval Mollette was part of the audience in Carter-Finley Stadium when NC State took on Clemson earlier this year in a nationally televised Thursday night game.
The outcome wasn't favorable for the Wolfpack. It was the school's
only loss of the season to date. But even in spite of the loss, the
Pack put on an impressive show and Mollette came away impressed with
the fanbase's passion and the direction of the program.
"I liked that game a lot. I felt like NC State was playing really
good. They just got robbed on a couple of plays."
Of course Mollette is referring at least in part to the play that
took a touchdown off the board on a jet sweep by Bryan Underwood.
Whether that was the difference in the game or not Mollette believes
the Pack was competitive and showed well against one of the nation's
NC State has always been one of the schools the Randleman (N.C.)
receiver has taken seriously and after that game and trip he seems
to be even more interested than before.
"I was just there neutral because both schools are recruiting me but
the fans were great. I talked to Coach White and Coach Jackson and
even Coach Doeren a little bit. They told me they love the way I
play and they were talking to me about coming to their school. They
said I would be able to help them out a lot and that I would be a
big time player for them."
Mollette has now visited the Pack three times and while he doesn't
have any favorites, the in state schools have probably been
recruiting him the hardest.
He was at Williams-Brice Stadium for South Carolina's 27-10 win over
the Tar Heels to start the season and he was an unofficial visitor
at Virginia for their game against Oregon several weeks ago. That
turned out to be a blowout defeat for the Cavaliers. He was also at
Kenan Stadium as East Carolina defeated the Heels in blowout
While Mollette has been happy to take advantage of all of those
invitations to college games he isn't letting the outcomes of those
games affect his opinion of the schools too much.
"I don't have a list really. I'm staying pretty neutral," he said.
Mollette has five touchdowns on the season for Randleman so far.
