Lasley talks Utah visit and new local offer

It was an eventful weekend for Gardena (Calif.) Serra wide out Jordan Lasley as the receiver took an official visit to Utah over the weekend and also landed an offer from his childhood dream school.

Jordan Lasley committed to UCLA back in the summer after an impressive performance at the Bruins summer camp. The athlete said he would still take some of his official visits and was in Utah this past weekend.

"I had a great time there," Lasley said. "I mean, I got to watch them beat the No. 5 team in the nation, it was an incredible game and an incredible performance by the team. They have two senior wide receivers and a junior receiver who's probably going to the League (NFL).

"Coach Whittingham is a great coach and I really respect him a lot. I loved the school and it's a beautiful place out there. I loved the facilities, the weather really wasn't that bad and they have a high graduation rate as well. I'm going to give Utah a hard look for sure. This is a big decision for me so I want to make sure I check out every option for me."

The visit to Utah wasn't the only big news for Lasley as he received an offer from his childhood favorite.

"I had been playing phone tag with Tee Martin all day," Lasley said. "I really had no idea what he was calling for and then when I talked to him, he told me they were offering me a scholarship. I honestly didn't know what to think and still don't to be honest.

"I never thought they would offer so it's a pretty big deal for me. I've been a USC fan as long as I can remember, ever since I was a kid. I went to the USC game last Thursday and went in to the locker room after their win. They were pretty hyped up and it was a fun atmosphere in the locker room. Right now, I think the best thing for me to do is just take a step back from all this and take some time to figure out where the best place for me really is."

As for where he's at with UCLA, Lasley said he still sees himself as a Bruin.

"I'm still solid with UCLA, I love how they're playing," Lasley said. "They have a great staff and they're playing great on the field. I talk to Coach Yarber and Coach Klemm and they're great guys. I just want to take my visits and the coaches said they're fine with that. I like UCLA a lot though, Westwood is a great place but like I said, I just want to sit back and evaluate everything to make sure I'm doing the right thing."
