Thomas is one to watch

Danny Thomas is a 2015 outside linebacker/defensive end from Cypress Bay in Florida.

Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay is home to a talented defensive end prospect in their junior class in Danny Thomas. Thomas, 6-foot-2, 220-pounds, is fast and quick off the edge and makes plays on both sides of the ball.

"I think my biggest strength is my quickness," Thomas said. "I can run to the ball. I think I am a player with a good motor and I can be a big hitter."

Thomas also stars on offense as a tight end. Against Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas he caught a key third down pass to move the chains on Friday. He also was in on a few tackles. In the future, he believes he's a likely 3-4 outside linebacker.

"It will depend on whether I can play in space," Thomas said. "I know I can play in space. I can cover. I think I will probably play outside linebacker at the next level, not defensive end."

Thomas doesn't have any scholarship offers at this time but he is garnering interest from quite a few schools.

"Miami, UCLA, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Florida are some of the schools that are recruiting me," Thomas said. "I went to see some schools this summer like Kentucky and Tennessee. Both of those places where so different than what I am used to. They are so serious about their football. Football is king there. I just loved the environments at both schools."
