Luckett Narrowing It Down

Many teams will be looking to JuCo help for immediate upgrades, and the front seven on defense will be particularly big targets. Gulf Coast LB Cavellis Luckett is one to watch, and he talked with about the latest.

Cavellis Luckett is a very talented LB from Gulf Coast CC who is becoming quite a hot commodity as his season moves along.

He's gearing up right now for a playoff run with his team as they hope to go deep in the post-season.

"Oh things are going really well right now, I'm trying to be a leader and hope to get my team to a championship," he said.

"I'm working hard in the classroom and getting my grades in order for the next level too.

"We have a first round playoff game coming up and I feel like if we can not look ahead, focus, and come together we can go all the way to the championship this year. We've been gearing up for this all season."

While also working hard to keep his own team going, he's been occupied with recruiting as things are heating up for him.

"I'm hearing a lot from Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Louisiana Lafayette, Tulane, Western Kentucky, and Memphis as well," he said.

"I was hoping to come to Southern Miss yesterday, but I had to go to Jackson and wasn't able to make it. I'm going to take an official there at the end of the season."

Luckett said the in-state schools and Memphis have the lead for him right now.

"I want to go to a place where I can lead the defense, be a good team player, win games, and get to the next level along with getting a degree. I'll take several visits after the season."

He commented on the Golden Eagles as well.

"I feel like they have a great staff, they just need playmakers to help them win," he said. "I think they will get there but they just need some players that can make it happen."
