Zook Gets Offer No. 1

Scout.com has an update on St. Thomas athlete Chris Zook from Houston, Texas. He recently got some good news in and called Scout.com to inform us what had transpired.

It was the news he had been waiting on for quite some time. In fact, it could be stated that this is something that Houston (Tex.) St. Thomas athlete Chris Zook had been waiting on since starring for his team three years ago.

That day has finally come.

"I wanted to let you know that I got my first offer today from West Point (Army). This is very exciting," Zook said. "This is what I've been waiting on for a long time."

Of course the scene at West Point is nothing new to the 6-foot, 185-pound Zook. Over the summer he took a couple of trips there, and another could happen before the process is over as well.

For the time being though, Zook will be able to achieve two goals at once with the trip he is taking this upcoming weekend. He said that he plans to catch a game at Air Force (one of the other programs recruiting him) when the Falcons play Army. These two programs, along with HBU are the main programs pursuing him.

In years past, Zook was known for his play making ability from the quarterback and receiver position. This year, he lines up mainly on the defensive side, which bodes well for him seeing that this is the position most schools are recruiting him for.

"It's really been all defense this year. I do have three catches for 92 yards and a touchdown, but I've been in the secondary all season," Zook said.

This season, Zook is averaging about seven tackles a game and has an interception as well.

Ahmard Vital is responsible for Midlands Recruiting, mainly covering prospects in the state of Texas. He joined Scout.com in 2005 and is the author of the newly released book, Awaken the Baller Within.
