Washington, D.C. -- Friendship Collegiate four-star cornerback Jalen Tabor received his Under Armour All-American jersey Oct. 31 at a ceremony at his school, and afterwards he broke down the latest on his recruitment with Fox Sports/Scout.com.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has three official visits coming up, and he announced exactly when those will be. Tabor, who recently eliminated official visits to Arizona and USC, will trek to Maryland Nov. 8, Florida Nov. 30, and Alabama on Dec. 13.
"There's so many pros to all those schools," said Tabor, who still plans to announce his decision at the Jan. 2 Under Armor game. "Everyday I change my mind where I want to go. … I wish I could fast forward to January to know where I'm going."
Tabor said he should know by Christmastime what school he'll be attending. He'll discuss the ins and outs of each of the three program with his mother, stepfather and head coach before letting the program he chooses know well in advance of his announcement.
"My parents favor Alabama, a lot of people favor Alabama for me. But, really, they're cool wherever I go. It doesn't matter to them," Tabor said. "But Alabama, there's nothing bad I can say about that program. Tremendous coaching staff, tremendous atmosphere, players, athletic director. Everything about Alabama football is top of the line.
"The proof is in the pudding, three of the last four national championships, and I don't know how many first rounder. They definitely have it going on down there."
But while Tabor was certainly singing Alabama's praises, that doesn't necessarily make them a favorite. He also had plenty of positive remarks about his hometown school, Maryland, a school he's more than familiar with.
"I feel like I know a lot about Maryland, but just that final wrapping it all up," Tabor said of his official to College Park Nov. 8. "Just seeing everything from the players, the team, the coaches, the atmosphere. I've talked to [current Terps] Yannick [Ngakoue], Cavon [Walker], Jermaine [Carter], and they always tell me [Maryland] is the spot. Just come here and we'll be set.
"I like the way they play on defense. … I want to see Byrd Stadium at its fullest, I want to see them get bowl eligible, and the crowd should definitely be into it."
Tabor's other official will take place during Florida's regular season finale against Florida State. He said he's looking forward to taking in the entire Gainesville experience, however.
"I want to get a little bit of everything – academics, where I'll be staying, just getting comfortable with the university," Tabor said. "Defense in the SEC – it can't get any better than that. They've had some great corners come out of there."
A little more than a month after Tabor finishes his officials he'll be set to let the world know his decision at the All-American game. He said he's got "something up my sleeve" for the announcement.
"It's going to be humble but confident," Tabor said. "It's going to be something where people are going to be like, ‘I've got to check this kid out.'"
