Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln High School linebacker/running back Travis Hearns has received his first scholarship offer. The 6-foot-0 and 210-pound two-way player is also hearing from a couple of in-state schools.

"Travis has an offer from Tennessee State," said Lincoln head coach Yusuf Shakir.

Coach Shakir also said that Georgia State, Florida Atlantic and Florida International are also showing interest in the senior prospect.

Hearns has been productive on both sides of the ball for Lincoln but defense has been where he has made his greatest contribution. From his linebacker spot Hearns is second on the team with 45 stops. The aggressive defender also three tackles-for-a-losses included in his 29 solo tackles. Offensively, Hearns has shown himself to be a reliable and effective running back. While seeing action mostly in a backup role on offense the senior has gained 181 yards on 26 carries and has one touchdown. What he lacks in breakaway speed he makes up for in vision and leg drive at running back, always moving the pile forward.

Coach Shakir thinks is versatile senior can play on either side of the ball in college.

"Travis is a very good all-around football player. He plays both tailback and linebacker for us. He can play in the box as a rolled down safety. I think he can play either running back or linebacker in college. Travis has good hands and would be good at picking up the blitz in pass-protection," said Coach Shakir.
