Winding Down?

When Grant Harris takes the field this Friday night, he will be looking to extend his senior season. The Clinton High Arrows still have post season aspirations, but a loss this weekend would wrap up the 2013 campaign for CHS. Harris is one of the top available prospects in the state of Mississippi for the 2014 signing class and a trio of programs are in hot pursuit.

"We have one more regular season game," said Harris. "We play Starkville up at their place and if we win that game, we have a chance to make the playoffs.

"We have seen them on film and they look pretty good.

"We have seen how Warren Central and some other teams have played against them, so we hope we can come up with a good game plan and come out with a win."

Starkville is also the home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, one of Harris' most relentless pursuers.

Harris plans to make a return trip to town later this month.

"I am planning on going to the Egg Bowl and I think that might be the last game I go to," said Harris. "I am not sure yet, but I think that is going to be it.

"I have been talking with Coach (David) Turner a lot and they are telling me how much they want me to come up there."

Harris reports that the three schools that appear to be making him a priority all have a similar sales pitch.

"Miami, Mississippi State and Southern Miss are all on me pretty good," said Harris. "They are telling me that I have the chance to come in and play next year if I work hard.

"They all have a lot of the same things to say and they all say that they think I would be a good fit for their programs.

"I don't really have a leader right now, but those three are sort of the main ones.

"Auburn and Nebraska are still in there too."

With the 2013 football season ending soon, Harris will be getting more serious about his college decision.

"I feel like things are winding down and that I am getting closer to making a decision," said Harris. "I might make a decision sooner than I was thinking about before.

"I am thinking about waiting until after Christmas, because I want to take all of my visits.

"I am just not ready yet."

Harris reports that his father has offered him some sage advice as he considers his college future.

"My dad has told me to just take my time with everything and that I will know when the time is right," said Harris. "That's what I am trying to do.

"I just want to be sure about everything before I make my decision."
