"As a sophomore he played more offense than defense," said Chad Grabowski, Mount Dora's coach. "This season he played more defense than offense. He's just a great athlete on both sides of the ball.
"I think he will end up playing defense. He's one of those tall and lanky corners that just makes plays. He can really play the position. He very good against the pass and can play the run. Von was made for it."
Davis has accumulated a handful of scholarship offers already. According to Grabowski he's sitting on ten.
"Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin, Arizona, FAU, FIU, Georgia Southern, Memphis, and Cincinnati are the offers I can remember," Grabowski said. "USF and UCF have both said they will offer. Florida State, Florida and Miami are all showing interest."
Of those schools there's one that seems to stand out.
"Von talks to Florida a whole lot," Grabowski said. "And I know they like him an awfully lot at cornerback."
Davis finished with 24 receptions for 334 yards and five scores. Defensively, he had 35 tackles and 10 pass breakups.
