Kinnick Blows Away Veloz

Nathan Veloz got a chance to see Iowa last weekend as he watched the Hawkeyes take his home-state Wisconsin Badgers. The Class of 2015 lineman was amazed by the atmosphere at Kinnick Stadium and talked about the visit with Hawkeye Insider.

Nathan Veloz grew up in Wisconsin rooting for the Badgers. The Class of 2015 linemen watched his home-state school on Saturday but it happened on an unofficial visit to rival Iowa. It opened his mind to a world of possibilities.

"I loved the city. It was very energetic and very eye appealing," Veloz said. "The atmosphere was insane. It was the loudest stadium I've ever been to."

That would include Camp Randall in Madison.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Veloz learned that the Hawkeyes were evaluating him on both sides of the ball.

"I talked to both Coach (Eric) Johnson and Coach (Jim) Reid (on the visit)," he said. "They showed me a lot of attention and weren't only impressed with my offensive film, but also my defensive film."

Veloz received a tour of Iowa and liked what he saw.

"I feel that they are a great program," he said. "They said that they make the most pro football players and numbers show it. The facilities were nice and they are making everything brand new next year. They're putting in $54 million into it."

Veloz plans to be back at Iowa soon but is heading to Wisconsin this weekend to watch the Badgers play host to BYU. He's also going to stop at Northern Illinois in the coming weeks.

Besides those schools he's looking to visit, Veloz said he is hearing from Iowa State, Central Michigan, Nebraska, Michigan State and Western Illinois.

"I'm just waiting on my first offer and hopefully they continue to roll in after the first one," Veloz said. "I just have to be patient."
