Three-star Garner (NC) running back Nyheim Hines was offered by Ohio State last week. The Buckeyes had long been interested in Hines and made the decision to extend him a scholarship.
"One word to describe it would be joy," said Hines about his newest offer. "I have followed Urban Meyer ever since he was at Florida and I have always really liked his offenses. I'm glad they took the time out of their day to offer me."
The Ohio State defensive assistant, who recruits in the Carolinas, gave Hines the good news.
"I was told to call Coach Withers so I did and he offered," Hines mentioned. "He said he likes what they have seen so far. They have always wanted to offer but they saw but wanted to wait and see what kind of student I was. They saw my academic report and were impressed. It was good enough to be offered. He said that they will now be discussing with me how they would use me in their offense."
Hines explained to Scout how Ohio State plans on using him if he makes his next home in Columbus.
"They said the hybrid position and in the slot were where I would be at," said Hines. "I would be taking handoffs and catching passes like their current player Dontre Wilson."
Hines also talked about the program and what about Ohio State appealed to him.
"I like the tradition that is there," he noted. "It's a place that wins a lot of games and gets a lot of national attention. They have won 21 games in a row and are a hot team right now. Since Coach Meyer has been there they have gotten it done."
"I've always watched Ohio State because it's a great school," he continued. "They have had great players in the past and always will."
