Belden Taking In-State Visits

Avon (Ind.) junior defensive end Joe Belden visited Notre Dame on Saturday and is set to head down to Indiana twice this week.

Avon High junior Joe Belden, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound defensive end, visited Notre Dame on Saturday and saw the Irish defeat Brigham Young 23-13.

"I had a great time," he said. "I really enjoyed talking to Coach Elston a lot, and it was an amazing experience."

Belden had meet some of the staff before and they noted the difference in his physical appearance since their previous meeting.

"[Coach Elston] just said I've gotten a lot bigger since he had seen me last and that it was nice seeing me."

The school Belden has been to the most is Indiana. The Hoosiers have been recruiting him hard and he plans to return to Bloomington again this week for a full experience on what game week is like.

"I'll be doing position meetings and watching practice on Tuesday and Wednesday at IU. I'll also be at the IU versus Purdue game this weekend."

Belden has heard from other schools like Cincinnati, Iowa State, Miami (Ohio), Western Kentucky and more. He says recently, he has been in contact with several others.

"I usually talk to Purdue, Nebraska, and Michigan State every week, sometimes Arkansas, but not a lot."

As a junior, Belden recorded two sacks, three tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries.
