Brown Receives B1G Offer, De-Commits

Muskegon (Mich.) Mona Shores senior wide receiver/defensive back Asantay Brown is now back on the market after receiving his first BCS offer.

A Western Michigan commitment since the summer, Mona Shores High School senior Asantay Brown turned a great season into a new offer and has changed his college plans as a result.

"Asantay has officially decommitted from Western Michigan and has been officially offered by Minnesota," Shores head coach Matt Koziak said.

The 6'1, 190-pound Brown will make a quick trip to the Twin Cities on the heels of the offer.

"He is taking an official visit to Minnesota next Friday, December 6," his coach said.

Recruited by the Broncos as a defensive back, Brown is ranked as a three-star safety by Scout, but the Gophers plan to use him on offense, where he was first team All-Conference, All-State an All-Area.

"They offered him as a wide receiver. They love him as a wide receiver."

Brown had 64 receptions for 1,281 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. He added four rushing touchdowns. He finished his Sailors career with 2,302 all-purpose hards and 28 touchdowns.
