Myers Makes the Call

Mississippi State is off and running when it comes to the 2015 recruiting class. The Bulldogs picked up their fourth verbal pledge for the 2015 signing class tonight as Oak Grove star Cameron Myers made his commitment. An excited Myers shared his first public comments about his decision exclusively with Scout.com.

"I committed to Mississippi State tonight," said Myers. "I called and told Coach (Tony) Hughes and he was real excited.

"He told me that I was one of the top players on their board and one of the top players in Mississippi, so he was happy that I wanted to be a Bulldog."

It has been a big weekend for Myers who helped his team to the 6A state championship on Friday and has now closed out his weekend with a commitment to play college football in the SEC.

"Mississippi State has been my favorite school since my 9th grade year and I was ready to get this done," said Myers. "I just wanted to wait until the end of my junior year before I made my commitment.

"I feel like now is the best time to do it and I can just enjoy everything now."

Myers has the ability to play all over the football field and some schools have labeled him as an athlete who can play where he fits best.

Myers' first snaps will likely come at quarterback where he spends some of his time now on the high school level.

"Mississippi State is talking about me playing quarterback," said Myers. "I am excited about everything and I appreciate all of the coaches up there.

"I wasn't really looking at who all they were recruiting or who all was going up there.

"I just knew that was where I wanted to be."

Myers commits to MSU over an early offer from Southern Miss.
