Ward Opens Things Up

Chicago (Ill.) Simeon offensive tackle Denzel Ward decommits from Purdue and speaks to Scout.com about his options going forward.

After being committed to Purdue since June, Chicago Simeon's massive 6-foot-8, 290-pound offensive tackle Denzel Ward has re-opened his recruitment.

"I just decommitted from Purdue University," he reported. "I appreciate Coach Hazell and what his staff has done for me it has meant a great deal."

He added, "I just wasn't comfortable with it."

As for other schools he will look at, Ward said he did not know for sure, but he did take a recent official visit to South Florida and has one other visit planned.

"I have Syracuse right now for sure on January 31st."

A couple schools have stopped in to Simeon recently to check in on Ward.

"Penn State, Arizona State and that's really it," he said.

Ward added that a visit to Oklahoma could be in the works for January 17. He, at one point was committed to Michigan and had additional offers from Florida, Texas Tech, Wisconsin and others.
