"I called Coach (Mark) Dantonio today (Monday) and told him I was de-committing," Durkin stated. "I have nothing but good things to say about Michigan State and their coaching staff. They were great to me the whole time, but this was a business decision."
"I'm thrilled to be going to Virginia Tech," he continued. "Coach (Scot) Loeffler and I really connected, and he's the person I want to be my quarterback coach. We are both very competitive, and have similar personalities. I know Virginia Tech is the right school for me."
"Coach Loeffler has coached Chad Henne, Tom Brady and Tim Tebow, with Henne starting four years at Michigan," Durkin added. "He has a great track record with quarterbacks playing early, and he obviously knows how to prepare young talent for the next level. We both have the same love for the game, so in my heart this was the right decision."
Scout.com will have more on Durkin's decision in the coming days, and he will go into more detail for the switch.
