Bears Nab Two Commitments!

The Baylor Bears welcomed two new student-athletes to the family. These JUCO standouts fill a huge need at the Defensive Back position, and will enroll at Baylor in January! Come inside to meet the newest commitments!

Closing out the 2014 class, the coaching staff at Baylor knew they might need to head the JUCO route to find some talent to fill a void that was going to be left by their 3 outgoing senior defensive backs in K. J. Morton, Joe Williams, and Demtri Goodson. Well the Bears did just that, in heading out West, by reeling in JUCO defensive back standouts Chris Sanders and Tion Wright.

Tion Wright is no stranger to Texas, as he grew up in Amarillo and attended Tascosa (TX) HS. The 5'9 prospect received little interest our of HS, but remained confident in his abilities and was able to get on at Moorpark (CA) Junior College. After a year of playing football in CA, the talented corner began receiving interest from Division I programs, and recently took official visits to California and Baylor. After being at home and thinking over the decision, Wright decided that getting back home was best for him and chose the Big 12 Champion Baylor Bears as his new football home. Wright will graduate in December and will be eligible to go through spring practice and fight for one of the two new CB positions.

Chris Sanders took a little bit of a different route than Wright. Committing to Georgia out of HS, as a 4* 6'0 180 lb senior, the talented corner only lasted one year and was dismissed from the team after breaking team rules. Trying to start over, Sanders enrolled at Georgia Military College, but was promptly dismissed from there. The third time was the charm, as Sanders enrolled at Eastern Arizona and instantly became a standout for EAC. Baylor has recently became somewhat of a landing spot for players who have had troubles with discipline. It has worked out well for the Bears, as many of these players have flourished with a new lease on life and football. Sanders should be no different. Sanders, like Wright, will fit an immediate void at the cornerback position, and will battle for the starting spot this spring, as he will also enroll at Baylor in January. Sanders will have

With these two commitments, the Bears will welcome 5-6 new players in January. And while commitments are non-binding, those 5 players will be Davion Hall, Terence Williams, and Jordan Feuerbacher, along with the two recent commitments. Wesley Harris, a grey-shirt, could also join the Bears in January, after coming off of ACL surgery and rehab.
