Junius Commits to Akron

With his senior season over, St. Vincent St. Mary (Ohio) athlete Travonte Junius is ready to focus on his recruitment. Check out his status with Akron.

Six-foot-3, 185 pound athlete Travonte Junius couldn't have asked for a better final high school season. The St. Vincent-St. Mary (Ohio) senior went out on top.

"We won state! I think I played pretty good. I had a pretty big part on the defensive side. Since I'm an athlete, colleges will recruit me for any position, both offense and defense," said Junius.

One school that took notice in the defensive end/ outside linebacker/ safety didn't have to go far to find him.

"I got an offer from Akron in the middle of November and then committed there a week later," said Junius.

The senior says there are several appealing things about Akron.

"I love that it's my hometown. After I committed, I started hearing from alumni that it's a good school and getting better. It's good for me and my future," said Junius.

When Junius informed the Akron staff with his decision, he says he couldn't have asked for a better reaction.

"They were really excited. They wanted me and my teammate Newman Williams, and we both verbally committed at the same time," said Junius.

The senior isn't the first member of his family to be a Zip.

"My sisters went there. When I told one of them about my decision, she was telling everyone to look out for her little brother," said Junius.

While he is committed to Akron, Junius continues to hear from another school.

"Pittsburgh has been talking to me. I took an unofficial visit there and also to Akron. I haven't been on any official visits yet, but I want to take some," said Junius.
