JCFootball.com Recruiting Blog - 12/30

The holiday season is close to wrapping up, but things are still in the works with several JUCO prospects who are looking for homes in 2014. Here's a look at a handful of sophomores as well as some freshmen who will be players who are already getting quite a bit of attention are are ones to keep an eye on this spring and summer as they prepare for their sophomore seasons next fall...

Palomar TE Sam Browning - Ryan Ena got all the preseason hype, but Browning actually had the better season as far as Comet tight ends are concerned. He amassed 340 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 29 receptions and was lauded by his coaches as being a very solid blocker. Word is that Wyoming was on him before they made their coaching change and that Colorado was giving him a look as well. He will graduate in the spring, which is probably why more schools haven't gotten on him earlier.

Arizona Western OT Jordan Prestwood - Prestwood has become a hot commodity now that the first wave of top JUCO OTs have signed with schools. At 6'7 and weighing in at close to 310 pounds, the Notre Dame bounceback has offers from several schools including Auburn, California, Florida State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and San Diego State and word is that the Tigers are at the top of his list. However, he will take visits in January to make his final decision and don't rule out Oklahoma sliding in there as well.

ASA OT Kelby Johnson - Johnson is a player who has seen recruiting pick up over the past couple of months. He didn't have a ton of preseason hype, but since the start of the season he's received offers from Kansas, South Florida, East Carolina, Purdue and UAB and he's taken visits to the first two programs already and will see ECU late next month (January 24th - 26th). Right now, if I had to handicap it, I'd say USF is in the lead, but with more visits on tap, it's tough to make a call on where Johnson ends up.

Copiah-Lincoln DE Jonathan Calvin - Calvin is a freshman who received an offer from West Virginia and is getting looks from a lot of different schools including Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Nebraska among others. The freshman, who will need to return for the 2014 football season at Co-Lin, racked up 29 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 12 tackles-for-loss and an interception.

Glendale (Az.) OT Jevonte Domond - Expect to hear Domond's name a lot this spring and summer as he'll likely be on of the top JUCO offensive tackles in the country for the 2015 class. He's athletic and has a great frame. He already has two offers -- San Diego State and Wisconsin -- and schools like Arizona, Kansas, Kansas State and Cal have all made inquiries as well.

Feather River RB Farrell Victor - Victor was one of the top rushers in the country this year. The sophomore totaled 1,380 yards and 16 touchdowns on 203 carries while also hauling in 15 receptions for 230 yards and two more scores. Word is a lot of smaller schools as well as some lower-level FBS programs have made inquiries, but nothing concrete has come his way as of yet.
