USAAAB: Brandon Simmons

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas receiver Brandon Simmons talks with following the first practice at the Army Bowl….

Stanford commit Brandon Simmons has always dreamed of participating in the Army Bowl and even though he is nursing an injury that happened late in his senior year, he is still having a good time in San Antonio.

"It is definitely an honor and I am out here having a ball just being able to be out here with all of the guys. Simmons explained. "As you know everyone has their own personality and we are bonding as the West team. I am just having fun and a ball being out here."

He feels like he made more progression and became more complete defender as a senior in 2013.

"This was my senior year, so you know this was my year to dominate, so that is pretty much what I did until my injury," Simmons said. "I have had a blast at Timberview. I have been surrounded by a great staff and great group of teammates, so I love those guys."

He will be playing his college ball for the Cardinal.

"Stanford has the best of everything as far as location (and) education. They have it all and that is what I was basically looking for when I made my decision to play at whatever school I chose."

Simmons has been working on players to join him Palo Alto, and he is in the ear of a five-star on his West squad.

"Solomon Thomas," Simmons answered when asked who he was recruiting.

"He is going to add a different dimension to our defense. We have him in the trenches. We are going to be a hard defense to play against."
