Hutcherson Finalizing Visit Schedule

Darrion Hutcherson had some bitter sweet moments while watching the BCS National Championship game. The former Auburn Tiger was happy to see his former teammates do well, but he was also left with the feelings of what might have been. Now looking for a new four year home for the remainder of his college career, the next time Hutcherson sees Auburn it will be as an opponent.

"I know all of those guys," said Hutcherson of Auburn. "I am still in touch with some of the upper classmen, the guys in my class and I know some of the freshmen too.

"I was pulling hard for them last night, but they ended up on short end of a hard fought game.

"It was a great game and I wish they would have been able to pull it out."

Once Hutcherson arrived at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, there was some talk with the talented tight end may return back to the Plains as part of the Gus Malzhan offense.

With signing day just about a month away, the Tigers are no longer a consideration.

"I have to do what is best for me and I know that they want what is best for me to," said Hutcherson. "I loved it there, but it's just not the place for me and it's just not in my future.

"I am looking ahead now and focusing on the programs that are recruiting me hard."

Hutcherson has taken a pair of official visits with another trip schedule for later this month.

"I have visited West Virginia and Cincinnati," said Hutcherson. "I have Mississippi State coming up and that might be the last one I take.

"I had good visits at West Virginia and Cincinnati and they have a lot of the same things to offer.

"They are both good football programs with good academics.

"I feel like I could do well at both schools.

"I am looking forward to visiting Mississippi State and seeing what all they have to offer."

The Bulldogs appear to be pretty serious about the Alabama native as the top Dog is headed to see Hutcherson in person.

"Coach Dan Mullen is coming to Wesson to see me after the dead period," said Hutcherson. "They are coming to see me and then they are going to see my mom.

"That's all pretty exciting and it shows that they want me to be a part of their program.

"They seem like they want me pretty bad."

The Bulldogs are not the only program working hard to host Hutcherson before he makes the call.

"Temple is recruiting me really hard, but I don't know about that," said Hutcherson. "Indiana has been on me about coming up there to visit, but I don't really know about that either.

"Right now, I don't have a favorite school. They are all my favorite schools and I am just trying to keep everybody even until I have a chance to take my visits.

"I have been through the recruiting process before, so I am just trying to take my time and see what each school has to offer.

"I would like to make a decision a couple of days before signing day, but if I am not ready then I may take it down to signing day."
