Fields down to 10

On Monday, Mark Fields trimmed his list to 10 schools. The four-star Cornelius (N.C.) Hough cornerback spoke with Scout.com about the schools, his future and more.

After receiving interest from numerous schools, Mark Fields narrowed his list to ten schools today.

"I'm down to ten schools – LSU, South Carolina, N.C. State, Tennessee, Florida State, Florida, Clemson, Georgia, Ole Miss and UCLA – in no particular order," said the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Fields.

The Hough standout felt it was time to trim his list.

"Now that we're in 2014 and I'll be making my college decision next year, I just felt like it was time for me to start narrowing down some things," Fields said. "So, I talked with my dad and my family, and zeroed in on 10 schools that I really like."

Of the schools to make the cut, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Tennessee have offered, while LSU, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss and UCLA have not. Fields said he thought Florida State or UCLA could be the next to offer.

As far as visits this spring, Fields has not set any up yet. However, he said he will definitely visit LSU.

Fields already has a timetable for his decision.

"I'll probably narrow it down to a top eight in the next few months," Fields said. "And then sometime before the start of my senior season, I'll narrow it to five. I'm going to make my decision at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl (next Jan.)."

Fields is the No. 17 cornerback in the 2015 class.
