Kelly rearranges visit plans

2014 OT Derrick Kelly, LSU's No. 1 OT target, has rearranged his visit schedule. The Tigers and Florida State will receive the final two officials, and TSD has the latest on where things stand between Kelly and his top two suitors.

2014 OT Derrick Kelly will take an official visit to LSU on Jan. 24, followed by a trip to Florida State on Jan. 31.

Kelly originally planned to visit LSU this weekend, but pushed that trip back and will instead visit South Florida, where the Bulls have assembled a big recruiting weekend.

The Florida State visit is a relatively new development, as Georgia was originally expected to land that Jan. 31 trip. Kelly is still considering a visit to Athens, but it will likely have to be during the week.

The Seminoles have reentered the mix and are still trying to work the numbers to squeeze Kelly into the class. Florida State already has six offensive linemen committed in the 2014 class, and adding another isn't their highest priority.

According to Kelly's coach, they are aware of the limited spots available at Florida State, and that's a major reason why LSU feels it has the lead. Kelly is LSU's No. 1 priority along the offensive line, and he would fill a major need for the Tigers.

LSU will try to nail that point home next week when the new offensive line coach, expected to be Jeff Grimes, has an in-home visit with Kelly and his family. Les Miles had his one allotted in-home with Kelly before the dead period, and he really kickstarted the Tigers' relationship there.
