Brunis Gets First Offer

With the days counting down to National Signing Day are few, Ohio wide receiver Herman Brunis kept the faith an offer would come. Monday, Brunis saw his dream become a reality.

They say it only takes one and for Fairfield (Ohio) high school senior wide receiver Herman Brunis, Monday saw scholarship offer number one come his way.

"I'm doing well," said Brunis. "I got an offer from Ohio and plan on taking my official visit this weekend. This is my first offer and I wondered if it was ever going to happen."

The 5-foot, 165-pound receiver is coming off a strong season that saw him pull down 44 receptions for 839 yards and five touchdowns in helping his team to a 9-2 record and playoff appearance.

What does he know about the Bobcats?

"I know Ohio has been to a bowl game the last three years," he said. "I also know the school is in the city of Athens and is a good college town."

Helping Brunis to keep the faith was Bobcats wide receivers coach Dwayne Dixon.

"I've been talking with Coach Dixon," explained Brunis. "I've also been talking with all of the coaches almost every week and Coach Dixon kept saying just wait as they were moving things around and for me to be patient."

While he's waited for what seems forever for his first offer, Brunis said he could make a quick decision following his visit.

"I'm going to come back and discuss it with my mom and dad," he said. "Then, I'll look to make a decision."
