One of the state's most explosive athletes made the call to stay close to home this week. Butler defensive back Joe Brown committed to Western Kentucky.

Joe Brown visited Western Kentucky last weekend and saw enough from new coach Jeff Brohm and his program to make the decision to become a Hilltopper.

"Verbally committing to Western Kentucky University #GoTopps #BrohmEra," Brown said via his Twitter account @teamjb2_.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior was a lockdown corner for a dominating Butler defense this season. He also excelled as a running back, using his speed and elusiveness.

Scout.com will have more on Joe Brown's commitment soon.
